My work moved premises recently and they ripped out an old reception desk with a nice granite top.

One of the managers got most of it, but I snaffled this piece from the end corner...perfect :D

Now I just need to encase the freezer in wood veneer and it's finished.

My parents just got a new fridge & I scored their old 460 litre one...my beer storage capacity is now up to scratch! :beerbang:

Anyone else got stories of good scores? :)

Erm, my old beer serving fridge? Sold that to Steve yonks ago.

My food fridge? Someone else owns that...I only buy fridges for beer-related reasons

On the other hand, you are most welcome to come look at the new fridge over a few beers sometime

Yesterday I scored an old 2ru PA switcher (good solid steel box) that will be gutted to house my 2 new HLT/ herms controllers, a bunch of relays and half a dozen din rail power outlets that were given to me :super:
I love scoring / working with this stuff as much as as I love brewing.

Not yet bloke but will post some when I finish it off :)
Cheers

Fingerlickin - taht is the same fridge and condition taht i bought a few months ago for $50.00...

Ken, it was in much better condition before we moved it

There was a spot where we couldn't get it through without removing the doors so the handles wouldn't get in the way...freezer door was no problem, but couldn't get at the fridge door bolts...sticky goop built up behind the handle trim made it sound like they were just glued/taped on, so chisel the handle off...oops, ****** it

Plus the dents and dirt were all caused by us this arvo too. I'd make a terrible removalist

I picked up a 460L fridge about 2 months ago

Runs perfectly - just needs a good clean

Gonna hopefully use its as a keg fridge when I get my new place set up (and buy kegging gear)

In the mean time I don't know if I should use it for fermenting (it's bigger than my current fridge) or not

I have to wait and see.

If I give it a good clean and leave it open will it be ok if I turn it off?

Cheers

Mate, I've got a bar fridge sitting in the shed for 3 years, turned off with a closed door and the inside is fine.

PZ - now you've got more freezer room, you can have that kilo lump of cluster hops back!!! I still havent used em ;)

I scored a fridge for nothing off a guy at work not long ago.

It looks a bit rough on the outside.

But does the job nicely

Dr Gonzo - 4 fermenters?

Somehow i feel like less of a man this morning :(

Thats a NICE fridge to be able to stack them like that! Uber impressive :beerbang:

I scored a free fridge from my sister in-law last year which i use exclusively for fermenting lagers all year round.

I scored free beer of Devo a couple of weeks back

  :beerbang:

I picked up this fridge not long ago via auction.
3 Years Old, Frost Free, electronic thermostat, almost as new condition.
It apparently didnt work, Ive had it running for about 2 weeks and hasnt missed a beat.

Being a fridgy, i had planned to buy it and fix it up for the shed. But havent found anything wrong yet!
And now I have a fight on my hands to keep it from going in the kitchen!

Paid $16.50!!
