I've been brewing all-grain for two and a bit years, partials for a year before that. Did my first kit beer in first year university.

okay, spill the guts time,64 model.got into brewing in 2001 as a fathers day pressieand loving it......cheers.........spog........

Well....I am old enough to know better, to young to be dead :D (member of the missing age bracket )

Been brewing 5-6yrs.... some have been partials, most AG...

But due to a defective fermenter...brewing is on hold....

Formed a 5 member brew crew 6 years ago when we were in year 12 (needed something to do while avoiding studying, and the HBS was close to school).
3 of are still going and onto AG, big ups choppadoo & moonee!

Alright I guess I better spill the beans/throw down the gauntlet. I (along with above quoted influence) began distilling at a very tender young age. Using "cider" fermented with bakers yeast in four litre milk bottles in the roofspace of our shed (grew up on a fruit orchard- not much to do in the country) and a "still" that consisted of a big pot on a portable stove with garden hose coming out the top, coiled through a bucket of ice and into a jar. thank god it didnt work, our brains would be far more pickled than they are now. we did however collect about a glass full of horrible smelling **** that was crowned "chappii" after the cartoon dog from japanese classes where the idea was conceived.
We were 13.
Gave up after the first attempt. Started brewing a few years later.

Can anyone beat this in terms of early starts? Beer in the baby bottle?

Cheers,
Chops

...I can beat it with solar powered distillation at age 9 for the local science fair......worked well enough to be interesting - the only problem is that it's bloody hard to get it all to work inside the local army hall at night time when they actually let you set up your exhibits....so no cigar..and we didn't actually drink any of it anyway......to be fair it was distillation for fuel alcohol

Anyway, I'm 36, first made 'beer' nearly 20 years ago in NZ with a kit that turned out a horrible result, several subsequent attempts were just as unpalatable, gave up on that whole thing and moved on to fruit wines - feijoa wine that was almost hallucinagenic, blackberry wine that was actually pretty good but murder on carpets when it came back up and then a distilled version of the blackberry wine that's still known amongst friends as 'bottled death'...somewhere up around the 55% odd mark.. I still have 3 bottles of it sitting at my old man's place in NZ but no-one's game to touch it...including my old man which is really saying something for someone who at 63 will still drink the remainder of his beer from the night before - the following morning ...just as a matter of principle.
Then a 15 year break and ended up working at at a local brewery (as a Chef) where the bug bit with a partial brew and quickly ballooned out within a couple of brews to making a full stainless setup (the Brewboy) and the rest is history....now beer is my life. Literally. Couldn't be more so I don't reckon without owning a micro.
Ain't life grand..... B)
(Oh hold on, here comes the nurse with my meds..... )

Thanks Jason.
There is a lot of new brewers on this forum in the 1 - 2 brewing bracket.

That is a big fat win right there... I like them tough and old school!
