My missus, now there's a different story.

When one of my beer fridges broke down, she called out someone, and didn't blink at a $350 repair job!

Made absolute sense to her, it was a lot cheaper than a new fridge, so - she saved us heaps!!!

I, of course, didn't mention it was an old fridge which had cost us nowt in the first place, or that we had two others that could do its job :D

it would have to be a very special piece of gear that significantly changed my brewing in terms of time saved or quality of beer
That is generally the criteria I look at when considering buying something new. I look at 3 aspects. If it will.....
1. Improve my beer, or
2. Reduce my brewing time, or
3. Make my dispensing system easier/better/more portable,
but if it's more than one of the above and reasonably priced I find it hard to resist. (especially if it is made of shiny stainless steel :) )

Don't ever forget a good one - safety.

I justified my pump by saying I wouldn't have to lift from heights with a 3 tier setup. With a 2 tier, less lifting = saves the back.

Well, it worked for me anyway
