"1650 bottles of beer"
ever since i started kegging SWMBO has noticed a lack of empties and debris about the place every morning, another good reason to take up the kegging habit.

Problem is ,how much does it cost for a single keg set-up??

Mark if your drinking that much beer, the kegging setup (and you would need like 6 kegs) would save you in sanitiser for the bottles

How do i go about geting a keg setup?

Mark

There is endless stuff on kegging setups on the web - on this forum have a look at this link

I dont have anything like the elaborate font setups like some lucky people around here - just 3 kegs and a pluto gun. Total cost all up for me so far to give u an idea of the lower end of the spectrum.

CO2 bottle - 5 kg - old fire extinguisher $ 130 -
CO2 gas $20 per fill which should be once a year at my consumption rate
Regulator - $95
Pluto Gun and Hoses and disconnects - $80
3 X 19L corny kegs -$65 each
Couple of keg o-ring kits $25

Total cost about 500.

There are ways of cutting those costs further - importing from the US for one.

My goodness! 3 cartons a week is way too much! Seriously.

I'm going to give an answer though as I assume you are young, at college and have mates drinking your beer as well i.e., it's not just you drinking all that beer. Or, maybe bottling is driving you to drink which is quite understandable.

Also, there is plenty of information on AHB re keg set-ups so I'll throw a few links in at the end of this post which will help you get your info a lot quicker. They are new threads but reading them will answer the question you have now and many others. Reading these threads will also enable you to source everything I have listed below at close to the prices listed.

Cheapest and bare minimum keg set up you will need is...

1 x 19 litre cornelius keg $80?
1 x Bronco Faucet & Hose $15
1 x Gas Regulator $80-$95 (Harris or Micromatic brands)
1 x D Size Gas Bottle $70? Initial cost plus $35 for re-fills (monthly in your case - just joking!)
1 x 25 litre 'cube' $20
2 x Disconnects & Lines $30

The 2 links that will help you with not only sourcing the above but in making quality beer are...

Frequently Asked Questions For The New Brewer

Have a good read of the links above and let us know how you go with your kegging set-up.

I have a keg set-up for sale, 5 kegs, connector and regulator for $300 if you are in Adelaide. All you would need are some lines and a gun (would even throw in a picnic tap too).

cheers

Not sure if I'd need 5 kegs, but sounds like an awesome deal.

Could be VERY interested if someone else wants to split the deal or something?

I'm in Western Suburbs Adelaide.

5 kegs :) is NEVER enough. :D Just do it.

Only one set of fittings. So the splitter would need pin-locks themselves.

sorry guys last off topic post.

cheers
