Hey,

I wanted to put together a bottle dryer that i can use to hold the cleaned bottles before i fill them and allow them to dry. I know that you can buy a bottle tree, but i cant justify the cost at the present time. In the past, i have used a washed out milk crate (what, no, who said i have a milk crate), but i have to keep in on an angle to allow the bottles to drain and not fall over.

I have a few idea's but i wanted to see if any one has made something that works.

Cheers

Old security screen doors.

I cut up my old one into two halves and the bottles (Coopers stubbies) fit perfectly into the holes.

Hi zoidberg99

I used a piece of lattice supported by a frame

Hi, I found that 75x50x 4 mm galv.,weld mesh was a good way to drain the bottles. I made a frame on legs that the mesh was attatched to. You could simply support the mesh on crates. Stubbies or long necks will sit at 20-25 deg when placed upside down into the mesh. This method has no contact with the rim or the inside of the bottle, there for you could even use un coated mesh as it only is in contact with the outer neck of the bottle. Donmac.

bread trays work great , they usually hold enough stubbies for a 23 litre batch , just need to find the type with the diamond holes that bottles and stubbies fit nicely into and your away ....

Why do you dry your bottles?

Drain the bottles he means ?

What's wrong with a milk crate on an angle ?

They used to make old crates with large diamond base that would take a bottle standing up - aint seen recently but common in mate's sheds (usually with fishing gear or machine parts in them)

Ahh, that makes sense. Before getting my bottle tree, I just put them upside down in the dish dryer. Upside down in the dishwasher might be a possibility?

Either you are single or the missus isn't there when you do it !

Yo, I found an awesome little piece of kit @ Bunnings that is meant as a storage cage/Shoe rack thingy - $7.50

It never contacts the inside of the bottle so I don't have to be to anal about keeping sanitised... It will hold a little over 2 slabs of 330ml stubbies.

Check it:

Cheap an works!

Cocko.

the problem with the milk crate on an angle is that the rims contact the base of the crate. Plus its a pain in the arse to sit it up without it fallin over.

Great ideas, thanks gang. Ill look at what i can get my hands on and let you know what i come up with

Cheers Again
