Hi Everyone,

Ive just gotten back into brewing after a few years off.

I found out the hard way that brewing in QLD over summer requires a temp controlled fermentation chamber. Ive picked upself up an old chest freezer and an inkbird ITC 308 wifi.
From what I have read on the forum so far, I need to stick the temp probe against the outside of the fermenter and insulate it from the ambient temperature. Do i also need to runa fan of some type in the chest freezer to prevent hot and cold spots in the freezer?

I just hope my first brew didn't mind being so hot for the first few days 😟

Cheers
Birdo

Welcome, Birdo.

A fan is a nice addon to even out the air temp in all corners of the fridge. Doesn't have to be strong. Old computer fans are good.

Don't forget to leave it open between brews to keep mould down, I also give even my upright a quick rapid mould kill spray every now and then. It can build up quick.

You can also put those disposable damprids in there to help.
