Hi Guys,

Do you guys think this recipe will be too bitter, I like the bitterness of the DSGA but wouldnt want it to be any more bitter than that.

Maybe the crystal would up the sweetness possibly.

What you guys reckon?

how are you chilling?... no chill? If rapid chilling, how fast? regardless that 1 min addition will realistically give you a touch more bitterness than beersmith calculates.
The balance looks pretty good for an APA, so shouldbe fine... also cascade and chinook is :icon_drool2:

I don't think it will be too bitter, with all that crystal it will be about right.

Personally I'd probably find it too sweet on the finish (depending on your mash temp 65 is about right) and I find Cascade to provide a resiny harsh bitterness - but that could be well hidden by the crystal as well.

If I was to change anything it would be to change the cascade to a smoother more effective bittering addition (warrior, amarillo, simcoe, magnum, northern brewer) but it is by no means necessary, the recipe is fine, just my prefernce.

Hi,

I am no chilling so the 1min addition will be french pressed once in the fermenter and 15min addition will be in the cube.

Spot on then... looks tasty... i reckon do it as is... if you added a touch of wheat for head retention the recipe would be some what reminiscent of a little creatures pale. But leave it as is and give it a crack

Thanks Argon,

Will give it a shot as the recipe is laid out, they maybe try 200g wheat in the next batch :)

200g should be ok yeah ?
