Handle stuck to Malt Muncher

Yahoy hoy,

I bought a malt muncher a few months back. Put the handle on, did a sack of grain by hand, then put it away and promptly bought a drill.

Today I went to remove the handle in order to attach the drill, and it was stuck fast. I've removed the little screw holding it in place, and pulled and pulled. I've applied a large amount of force, and can't apply more without doing something dumb.

Any ideas?

Would something dumb include putting a rag in the bottom and winding backwards?
