Hello every one .....

Got some ingredients to make 1 or 2 brews up while I wait for some grains
I just grabbed this stuff without giving much thought about what to brew with it

I got a can each of the coopers light extract and the amber , a can of coopers lager , 2kg of malted wheat and 2 kg of dextrose

Left over from other brew is half a kg of dark crystal , about 300gm of carapils and 200gm of caramel malt

Have some us-05 here and some yeast I collected from some saison DuPonts ..... I could also top crop some pacman yeast (collected from some rouges) off of a brew and use that

Have some hops ...... I have simcoe , cascade , galaxy , Amarillo , sty goldings , ekg goldings , hallertau and some saaz

Have plenty of simcoe but the rest only have 25-50gms in the packets

Any ideas ?

Thanks Spohaw

Was thinking a decently hoppy yellow or gold colour beer with the wheat and light lme , and maybe an amber-brown colour ipa with the lager and amber lme

Brown AIPA

Easy.

Crystal, caramalt with the coopers amber and their lager.

2nd beer could be a saison with the wheat, the light extract and the dupont with a touch of carapils.

how much crystal and caramel malt you think I should use for the brown ipa ?

also what hops should I use for the saison ? also what ibu should I be aiming for ?

Got a recipe together for the saison ..... just dont know if the saison yeast flavours are going to mix well with the hops I want to use

Thinking about using us-o5 and calling it an american wheat

heres the recipe

Saison

Never mashed wheat on it's own.. perhaps some rice hulls?

Thanks for the advice Yob ...ill change the recipe

I dont have any rice hulls and wont be able to get my hands on any , is it a stuck sparge issue ?....I was planning on doing a batch sparge sort of thing ...maybe ok?

Do you think it will be ok to use the saison yeast or should I just go with the us-05?

Thanks Spohaw

How did your wheat sparge go out of interest?

I made a BIAB 60% rye AG brew a few days ago (even with a BG rest at 40 deg) and it was such a pain. turned to glue in the bottom of the bag.
did you do a mini BIAB for the mashing?

Sparge went great , I used a biab and used 2 pots to do a batch sparge kind of thing ... 6ltr first mash in one pot then a 30 min 4 ltr mash after that into another pot
Wort drained out of the biab pretty freely , didn't seem to stick ....It did look like glue at the start of the first mash but it changed as it went along

First run came out at 1.060 , didn't measure the 2nd run .... ended up with a 1.056 og after adding all the rest of the ingredients and topping up to 20 ltrs
