I'm not that keen on going to the doctor most of the time. Inevitably you end up going because you are feeling like crap and to top it off, the doctor tends to tell you to cut back on this or that.

Well, today was different. Apart from the bad news, there is good news - to make me better, the doctor told me to drink more. He suggested that I should drink plenty of coffee and beer - just make sure that I also have a pint of water for every pint of beer or cup of coffee.

No worries there. Two of my favourite beverages and the water intake is not a problem at all. Luckily the kegerator is near the loo, which I will need to use quite frequently, I suspect.

It's not often that a doctor tells you to drink beer!

I had one doctor tell me that I needed to keep my fluids up

So I do, 1 schooner at a time

Smart doctor- drumming up business.

What was his reason for suggesting an increased intake of caffine and alcohol?

Both are diuretics and apparently the anti-bacterial properties of hops are effective for urinary tract issues. Basically, the doctor wants me to drink and pee as much as possible.

That sounds like a bit of a stretch - but still, no harm in trying! :beerbang:

Laugh all you want, but it's helping.Somewhere between one and one and a half litres of beer per evening seems to be the sweet spot for me. Three double shots of espresso during the day. Mind you, I also drink about four litres (8 pints) of filtered water to go with all that.

Blood pressure is good, and blood tests show excellent cholesterol levels, normal kidney and liver function and a whole bunch of other things within the normal operating range. I was actually surprised that it was that good.
