I have never used gelatine before and was wondering if I was to give it a crack when would I add it to the beer? If I add it when I rack to secondary would it make too much yeast fall out and then not have enough to prime? or should I add it when I bulk prime? that way it will go in with the yeast to the bottle and just do its flocing stuff in the bottle?
What are your thoughts and experiences.

i add it at racking when i use it, never had a problem with carbonation ether. works best when you add it just before cold conditioning in my experience

I've read claims by people who filter that even after filtering there's still enough yeast left to carb, it just takes a bit longer. just using finnings isnt going to present a problem in regards to remaining yeast numbers.

personally I've added it a day or two before I'm going to rack to secondary and crash cool. I figure the more crud that drops out in the primary, the better.

Just leave it in a day or two before bottling after adding the gelatin.

If your are are worried about having enough yeast, just stir a 1/2 spoonful from the bottom of the fermenter back in before bottling.

Note if you drop too much yeast out it will take a very long time to carb ( 6 weeks + ) especially this time of the year.

These days I don't even bother going to a secondary, and the beer still clears up ok. Think it has more to do with length of time that you leave it sit before you bottle. Of course crash cooling it definitely will help settle the yeast out.
