OK gents, this little gem has been my pride and joy for the past couple of years but it's now time to say goodbye. She started out life as a small project to complement my expanding stake in the homebrew scene and served as a catalyst for transitioning from bottles to kegs. With many hours spent researching/designing/building the various components the final product was quite an impressive feat that has since been the cornerstone of many unforgettable days/nights. Whether you're interested in entertaining the masses or simply taking your homebrew setup to the next level, or maybe even just starting out - you cannot go past this absolute marvel. Below is an in-depth description and breakdown of what is arguably the most enjoyable home project I've ever pieced together.
What is it? This is a bar fridge. But not just any bar fridge. This is a Fisher and Paykel 442L upside down fridge/freezer that has been converted into a fully functional bar including room for 4 Cornelius kegs which supply the 4 front mounted taps for a selection of beers at your fingertips. There are 4 gas lines that pass through the side of the fridge that have been neatly finished with an aesthetic brushed aluminium panel. These gas lines run to the supporting 6kg CO2 cylinder that is parked next to the fridge. The regulators attached to the cylinder include 2 dual outlet top of the range Tesuco units that have been modified to include quick release fittings (these things are an amazing alternative to the horrible barb/clamp fittings that come standard) and having 4 means you can set your charging/dispensing pressure independently for each keg. This function will make your life a lot easier when you realise each style of beer has a different requirement. Above the gas line panel, I have mounted a top of the range CO2 and O2 sensor panel manufactured by Peel Instruments. These guys are an Australian made/run business that provide these detectors for commercial use and some would argue that it's a bit of overkill for a homebrew application.....I disagree. Having 6kg of high pressure CO2 inside your house, with your friends and family, is a gamble even for the most cautious of people. It only takes a gradual leak to increase the concentration of CO2 in a small room and you will run into some serious issues that, to be blunt, could result in someones death. This thing is great insurance and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is storing high pressure CO2 or Nitrogen indoors.
What's included? I'm glad you asked. Here is a step by step breakdown of the parts included in this auction. I've included links where appropriate to provide an idea of price and/or details - take note that I have made links to other ebay auctions that are completely unrelated to this ad, they are simply a reference to help you research what you are getting.
All equipment has been look after well, works as it should and has been well planned to suit this setup. Its recently been cleaned and lubricated with a food grade lube where appropriate. This really is a 'complete' set and if you have any interest in learning more details please don't hesitate to ask. Happy for people to come and inspect - call/msg Scott 0430951280.
Pick up only from Wantirna South, VIC, 3152.
Cheers

- 1 x Fisher & Paykel E442B Upside Down Fridge/Freezer (http://www.productreview.com.au/p/fisher-paykel-e442b-e442brx-e442brxfd-e442bre.html) Great condition, includes both baskets for freezer. Ironically this fridge is larger, colder and more efficient than my actual kitchen fridge…As least I have my priorities right.
- 1 x 6kg Keg King CO2 Cylinder (http://kegking.com.au/co2-cylinders/co2-gas-cylinders-6kg-full.html) Roughly 75% full. Perfect size for a 4 keg setup.
- 1 x Carbon Dioxide/Oxygen detector with brand new Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide sensors recently replaced under warranty (http://www.peelinstruments.com.au/page12a.html) These things are $450 worth of kit and are well and truly worth the peace of mind. I will provide the receipt to the winning bidder for warranty purposes. Note that there are 2 detectors built into this unit. One detects CO2 and alarms when elevated levels are detected. The other is an oxygen detector, it detects the displacement of oxygen (low oxygen levels) and is useful for anyone who plans on using nitrogen gas for Guinness style stouts. If there is a nitrogen leak, this will displace the oxygen in the air and cause the sensor to alarm.
- 4 x Cornelius keg (http://kegking.com.au/keg-couplers-and-keg-disconnects/19l-9l-kegs-keg-parts/19l-second-hand-ball-lock-keg.html) These are the ‘ball lock’ style fittings which are highly favourable over the ‘pin lock’ type. I have recently replaced all seals and poppets and hand polished to give a nice bright finish. These are ex-commercial kegs and thus have scratches and dents here and there.
- 1 x Cornelius keg – once again with the ‘ball lock’ type fittings, this one is a bit ratty looking but I use it only for storing a cleaning solution that I use to flush/clean my beer lines when they are not in use.
- 2 x Tesuco Dual Output Regulators - here is an example of some being sold (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NEW-Tesuco-CO2-Dual-Outlet-Regulator-for-Home-Brew-Beer-Kegs-/291051260037?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item43c401c885) I have modified these to include quick release fittings. They make installing/removing gas lines a walk in the park. As the 2 regulators are joined with a coupler, I also have the spare gauge that I had to remove to joint them – this will be included in the auction.
- 4 x Gas disconnects with quick release fittings (http://kegking.com.au/keg-couplers-and-keg-disconnects/keg-disconnects-home-brew/ball-lock-disconnect-mfl-thread-grey-gas.html) here are the quick release fittings (http://kegking.com.au/keg-couplers-and-keg-disconnects/keg-disconnects-home-brew/push-in-8mm-x-ffl-fitting-to-suit-mfl-disconnect.html)
- 4 x Liquid disconnects with quick release fittings (http://kegking.com.au/keg-couplers-and-keg-disconnects/keg-disconnects-home-brew/ball-lock-disconnect-mfl-thread-black-liquid.html) These fittings are heads and tails above the standard barb type and make a great seal.
- 4 x In-line Check Valves - These little suckers are quick release style and sit in the gas lines to prevent an over pressurised keg from forcing liquid into the gas line and into a regulator. When you consider each one of those regulators is worth $200 these are cheap insurance. (http://kegking.com.au/co2-cylinders/one-way-check-valve-8mm-push-in-type.html)
- 2 x 30 cm Stainless steel drip trays which are mounted on the front of the fridge below the taps. These are a 2 piece design which makes them easy to clean. They are held in with bolts that can easily be loosened for complete removal. (http://kegking.com.au/drip-trays/door-mounted-drip-trays-30cm.html) They also look tough.
- 2 x Guinness creamer taps + long shank fittings – these guys are amazing. They have a dispersion plate in them so that you can pour creamy stouts like Guinness or, as I have done, you can simply remove the dispersion plate which allows them to be used like a standard draught tap. Very handy. These ones are top quality ones from the US and look the part. I have the parts for you to use them in either form. - 2 x Draught taps + long shank fittings – These are your bulk stock draught taps that are perfect for any brew. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LONG-SHANK-DRAFT-TAP-HOME-BREW-BEER-KEG-FRIDGE-MOUNT-DIY-FAUCET-KEGERATOR-ESKY-/111613755768?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item19fcb2c178)
- 24 x 570mL Commercial Quality Pint Glasses – That’s right. You have read this correctly. Included in this auction are 24 top of the line glass pints to enjoy your cold beverage of choice. I’ll let you in on a little secret – 24 pint glasses fit EXACTLY into the 2 freezer baskets which means you can store your glasswear at -20 degrees which makes for a real treat. You can literally open your freezer, grab a glass, pour a beer from the front of the fridge and enjoy.
- 4M of Beer line – I’ve always used this brand – it’s called Flexmaster II and its 5mmx8mm which works perfectly with all the quick release fittings. 5mm ID is also the perfect size for beer flow and it doubles up as gas line. It’s what the experts use! You will likely need more than 4 meters to complete your setup but this will get you started.
- ‘C’ Spanner for taps – This thing is just a cheap little spanner but will help you get your taps on nice and tight or help remove them for cleaning/lubricating.
