Hi all,

I'm looking at getting into brewing and want to setup a keg system and was wondering what would be better, a fridge or freezer. Any help and tips on what to look for, whats easier in terms of tap positioning and setup etc would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If you are just getting in to brewing, a fridge is probably your best bet as a first up option. You can easily set up a cheap fridge without any drilling, or need for external temp control just leave the tap inside and open the door to serve a beer. Not difficult to set up taps through the door with a drip tray if you want to do that either.

I run kegs in a freezer with a 6 tap font, but also have a fridge with 2 taps....one in the bar, one in the garage.

Freezers are great and allow a lot more room to fit more beer in - they do take a bit more work to get right and they also as a general rule are probably going to cost you a fair bit more. If you are like most people here, you will eventually want to head down the path of a freezer with a flooded font...really depends on how obsessed you become.
