Anybody had any experience with the mauribrew yeast?

Looks like a good deal if its a decent yeast. If not id rather pay the extra for better beer.

it seems alright. I have put a beer down with there wheat yeast only drama I see is it flocs to well for a wheat and is stuck at 1020 but its only been 5 days so not holding against it but its clearing up already, So am rousing it daily 1 to get it to ferment more and 2 to get more yeast in the beer. It taste bloody great though!

1 x empty can of Duff beer. Asking $15 negotiable (location Vic).

Duff was short lived - taken off the market after legal action by the makers of The Simpsons.

May be a good bar curio for any Homers out there.

Pretty sure this would be useful for someone.

Pot for water

This pot looks suspiciuosly like a Thermopot from Europe! Like this one :

Didn't know could get them here in Australia. They are insulated, double-walled stainless pots that make ideal mash tuns.

These things have taken the UK homebrew community by storm recently, and only in the last few weeks I noticed the yanks on HomeBrewTalk have started to get on to them. People are also using them as fermentors (by adding a heating/cool coil) and as electric boilers (by adding a heating coil)

Seems they are made in Germany and sold through ebay Germany and ebay France. A few UK home brew shops are importing them for local sale (eg. http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatal...Thermo_Pot.html ). And in Germany (eg. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...3Dde%26page%3D2 ).

The same German HBS is also making gorgeous laser-cut false bottoms for them like these -

Magical_Snap___2012.04.27_16.25___003.jpg

They come in a wide range of capacities - some with taps, some without. The tap and custom nipple (that connects through the double skin) are chromed brass. The poms are often swapping out the tap for SS ball valves ( see the video here for how its done http://www.effinbrewery.dreamhosters.com/i...=3&Itemid=8 ).

As for the pot on sale on GumTree, be aware that it is described as "BRAND NEW. Never been used".
However a look at the pics shows what looks like someone has had a go at adding another hole in the bottom :

And the only inside shot has the hole covered up with a wad of cloth or something (hiding a dodgy weld job?).

I've emailed the seller asking about it but no reply as yet.

Interesting. Feldon, why not create a new thread with more information. I like the idea of having a self contained fermentor able to maintain temperature.

Its got a dent in the can so thats gotto loose the value :p plus its only worth a few cents as scrap

From Wikipedia:
In the mid 1990s, the Lion Nathan brewery in Australia produced a beer called Duff. 20th Century Fox brought legal action against the company. The product was ordered to be pulled from store shelves and destroyed, because of the likely association in public mind between the Simpsons brand and characters and Lion Nathan's product, though the manufacturer did not use any Simpsons characters or the Simpsons Duff Beer design. The beer became a collectors' item in the process, with one case selling for US$13,000.
