Has anyone here successfully bred new varieties of hops from seed?
I undestand there needs to be a male for pollination, will this ever happen from female rhizomes - ie hermaph or whatever?
I recently got some (I assume female) rhizomes, I am interested to pot up any cross/wild seedlings later down the track for trial.
These will be grown reasonably remotely in the Blue Mountains west of Syd, so I doubt there is much, if any, hop pollen floating around in the air.
Off topic: I divided a full box trailer full of cow sh*t between 4 rhizomes... so something had better grow
