In the Guardian, I guess she's American, plenty of interesting comments (including a couple by yours truly) as always in the Grauniad.

I think you can condense that article down to "I don't like some beers so get rid of them". She doesn't seem to understand that people have different preferences for flavour. For instance, some of us don't have to choke down craft beer, we actually like the taste - and can (and do) drink lots of it without pontificating and whatnot.

As for the bit about buying a beer geek a **** beer and them giving a "beer education session", perhaps her beer geek friends are just dicks. If somone bought me a beer I'd happily drink it and continue the conversation. I just prefer to buy something nicer if I'm buying it myself.

I think we're now seeing the injection of a lot of marketing funds to turn around peoples perception around the idea of megaswill.

This is all psychological, and is designed to carefully change a persons perception and preference without them knowing it.

We have to think for ourselves instead of letting marketing from these companies think for us.

Its almost black magic, inserting things covertly into our minds while we watch the TV in a dull trance, then taking those things to be our own.

Maybe she's on the Kirrin or Sab Miller pay roll, it sure sounds like it. She's the type of chic who would really enjoy her $2.00 frozen meals & would buy nothing but home brand products. Her taste buds are obviously in her arse & she has very little knowledge of the craft beer industry. Id pay an extra few dollars for something with taste rather than toss money at flavourless crap that dominates the pub scene at the moment & the tide seems to be turning with more & more people starting to realise it. Craft beer isn't going away lady, you just need to jump on the band wagon & enjoy the ride.
