Sixpoint from usa might change your mind there, and their branding is pretty good too. As for the rest of your observations I'd pretty much agree.
I like Sixpoint beers, but still think the cans are girly.

Actually you can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter

I'd use some of the quirky landmark names around the country. On the Sunshine Coast some of my favourites are:

Murdering Creek Road
Old Woman Island
Wild Horse Mountain
Breakneck Creek

Wild Dog Valley Road (From my younger days in S.A.)

Add whatever style of beer to the landmark name.
Rotten Bay Pale Ale
Yorkey's Knob Porter
Bogan Gate Gose

etc

What about a craft beer brewed in Victoria that is a bitter and call it Victoria Bitter not to be confused with VB.

Bundaberg beers:

'Drunk Fish'
'Thirsty Turtle'

.. Good theme.

my inventions:

'Drier than a dead Dingo'
'Carp botherer'
'Laughing Pelican'
'Mullet Whisperer'

... and so on
