Hi all,

I'm thinking of putting down a 2 can later tonight. 2 cans of Real Ale that I've had sitting around, US05, 27 litres, temp controlled ferment and probably some hops in the keg. The spread sheet says this will get me to around 3.8% and 51 IBU.

So what are your thoughts? Will this make a good/ok beer? Should I reduce the volume and make a 4.4% beer with 60 IBUs?

My main reasons for going with a 2can is that I haven't brewed for ages, the kegs are empty, and I need to get a quick brew done asap.

Thanks guys!

Oh well, all done and dusted... it is now fermenting. I will give feedback when it is finished.

sorry I just saw this. I put 2 cans of real ale with23 litres plus 12gms each of amarillo and goldings (i thjink i made a tea and chucked bags and all in the fermenter}.
Man, it was bitter! Came out very dark, almost black.
I thought it was too bitter but a mate reckoned it was only as bitter as VB! dunno, I never drink VB.
It was an early experiment of mine.
I also added 250 g dextrose.

Anyway, they were all consumed! People told me they liked it, but.....

Thanks Jazzman. I topped it up to 27L in the end. I only got around to taking a gravity reading last night and it was a bit over 1040 which was a bit higher than I expected given the volume. Oh well... hopefully it ends up as a nice drop.
