Hi

I was given some Grolch Swing Top Bottles on closer inspection some have mould on base

I was looking for some cleaning tips

Thanks

Michael

Go and buy some unscented cheap Napisan product (anything with the active ingredient sodium percarbonate), mix to correct ratio as per packet instructions and soak in the bottles overnight, works a treat.

I don't use the grolsh bottles, are the tops dirty at all? Maybe soak the entire bottle in a bucket etc to help clean them up, although I'm not sure if soaking this plastic part in Napison has any bad effects for it?

I use them and just soak them in PSR for about 20mins if they are mouldy, removing the rubber/silicone stoppers also to clean any gunk that mat be hiding.

A bottle brush in the end of a cordless drill also works wonders - search for ryobrush

I was given some manky old Grolsch bottles a couple of years ago and they still had gunk in the bottom. I soaked the bottles in a bleach solution for a day or so, no scrubbing required.

You'll need to make sure you rinse them thoroughly, to remove all traces of the bleach.

If it is inside and caked on I've found the best way is to use a funnel to pour some napisan inside - about a teaspoon, then a small amount of close to boiling water (about an inch or so). Let it sit overnight, should be spotless pretty soon. Then soak in napisan as per normal for the rest of the bottle.
