Hi Everyone,

Just a quick heads up. Readoak in Clarence St have a yummy cask of Real Ale on at the moment.

I enjoyed quite a few delicious $10 pints from the hand pump last night and was mighty impressed.

Apparently they do a monthly cask but get down there before its all gone.

I was there last night too and it was good. And of course they serve it at the right temp.

Also had their English IPA, Rauchbier, Organic Pale Ale, St Andrews Scottish Export (80 Shilling?) and had a sip of the Kolsch.

A few of us couldn't finish the Organic Pale Ale, but the fact that we were heading to the TapHouse may have hastened our departure from RedOak...

I was there last week and had the IPA. It was the freshest english IPA I have had at a pub or brewery. Very nice.

Didn't notice the cask ale though :(

Kabooby :)

I called in there yesterday afternoon. I had the St Andrews Scotch ale and the IPA. Both were excellent. I had a taste of the Ale from the beer engine too. Where does that passionfruit come from??

Went there on Sun for a pint, will vouch it is good.

I argue though, that their 'cask' temp is too warm... Aussie cellar temp could do with a couple degrees off; to be in the ballpark of 10-12C. At least that is what I think.

We were there last friday lunch, but the bargirl said it ran out 2 days before. :(

I agree. I am all for serving an ale at a temperature that lets the falvours come through, but that one I tasted did seem a little warm.

I agree too, it is definitely too warm. But a tasty drop nonetheless.
