I have just made an AG honey heffe weissebier and was thinking of priming it with honey before i bottle it. Has anyone tried this?? Was just wondering if the honey took over?? Was thnking 5gms per litre like i do with dextrose.

Cheers KHB

The way I see it, the amount you prime with is so small with respect to the rest of the make-up that it doesn't make a noticeable difference what you use to prime.

Key thing with priming is to get the right amount of fermentables in there for the required carbonation. Honey is about 15-20% water, so use about 6g/L for the same carbonation as 5g/L dextrose.

Have you ever tried this before with honey?

Don't do it. I stuffed up a rather nice APA by adding honey to the keg. Way too much ott honey and I only used a 300ml bottle. If it tastes good now just bottle with dex. Just remember to that what tastes ok out of a hydrometer sample does not always translate to good drinking after 2 or 3 pints.
