I have a friend who owns a steel fabrication business and has offered to help me weld a brew sculpture. I am leaning toward a 3 tier gravity fed structure similar to Linky Does anyone have any links, pics or hints in helping me design this bad boy.

Cheers, JJ

Use the search fuction Jimmyjack. There are a variety of reasons why people have done 1,2 or 3 tier systems. It's really up to you as to what will suit you best, at the end of the day you will still be making bloody good beer, regardless of the system you go with. :D
You can also look in the gallery link above.

Hi JJ, I don't know how you go about it, but I fill my MLT with hot water from the tap to speed things up a bit. I would hate to be lifting 10L of hot water that high. However, it you were just filling your MLT from a hose, then that would negate the problem. I currently have a 3 tier and am going to build a single tier down the track with a march pump to transfer liquids between the vessles. If you do build that style, I hope your mate is a good welder as there will be quite a bit of stress on that frame.

cheers

P.S why don't you have your name down for the xmas swap slacker!

lou here
I have a three tier - pic in the gallery - mine isn't even welded - its all bolted together! - buts its made of 5mm angle iron - very stable -could hold a car - I have absolutely no worries about stability

- a stand to get up to stir the mash and fill the HLT is pretty much a neccessity - i use milk crates which is not optimal

I find it all real easy to use except you need to check where the area where you brew has a high ceiling!!

good luck with it

He is a very good welder. My only worry is going to be the weight of the thing as we will be using scraps from his yard. Browndog I must of missed the post regarding the xmas swap, i will go and have a look see.

Cheers, JJ

I started out with a gravity feed 3 tier system that was bolted to a brick wall. It was good for a while but I got tired of climbing up and down ladders and ended up re-designing my set up into a more compact 2 tier trolley with a pump and tap manifold.
