I have a Tripel planned this weekend, by the time its ready I will have keg free, but would I be better of bottling it and leaving for some months prior to consumption?

I'd bottle it Matt, you'll appreciate the beer more as it ages and you won't have tied up a keg for months.

Andrew

Im planing on making 2 over the coming months. One as a sort of test which I will chuck in the keg and the other bottles. I guess it'll work if you dont mind having that keg out of action.

but then it would be pretty cool to pour one from the old beer fridge!

I'm kegging mine!
(Mainly 'cause I just bottled a batch of dubble and don't have enough bottles).
Its always good to have something over 8% on tap, " I'm only having ONE beer dear " :drinks:
Bottle a few for ageing anyway.

All i can say is that Chimay Tripel tastes much better on tap then in the bottle. Its probably got some age on it in the keg though. I'd say if you can afford to put the keg aside for a little while i'd go that way. Otherwise stick them in a bottle.

Yep, forgot to add to give it one month in keg minimum.

If your happy to have a keg taken up for a long duration then kegging is easiest. I kegged mine as I couldn't be bothered with bottles at the time, thankfully I've got enough space in the freezer for regular beers to not be left out. Currently wished I'd bottled it as it's been in there for ages, trying my best to get through it.

Well all things considered, I have recently purchased a CPBF so i will keg it (My keggerator fits 6 cornies, so its not a big deal to leave it for a while) and after a while in the keg I will bottle some and continue to chip away at the tap tripel.

Thanks for all your input.

How did your tripel turn out? Mines almost finished fermenting. Got a little tipsy after sampling it the other day.Good sign I hope.

Kegged mine two days ago and its on gas as I type. I'll update as I go with how it goes. I have a four tap keezer with 6 kegs so it will be sitting out at cellar temp from time to time as well.

Tried to get a starter going (which failed) so I had to no chill it whilst I waited for some new yeast (wyeast 3787) and a starter to kick off, so I only really pitched the yeast on sat. Found this yeast to be a slow slugger. Took a little longer to chew through the 2 L starter ( i split the smack pack into 3) compared to other yeasts.

But anyway, there is a nice krausen on it at present. Going to wait for primary to slow down then add the sugar in 2 additions.

Will be kegging it and will also be able to fill about 10 Stubbies from the fermenter + others from the keg with the CPBF. I cant wait to have a session on this baby  well at least a few....

Cheers
