Hello Everyone, this is my first post.
First of all here is my favorite Recipe, I came up with this one myself and I am pretty proud of it. It won second place in the Great Dapto Show
(There were only 5 entries he he )
This recipe makes enough beer for 3 18 litre Kegs
8.5 Kilos of light Malt
50 grams Halletau Hops
50 grams SAAZ Hops
(I think they are 50 grams, I am talking about the pellets in the sealed foil packs they keep in the fridge)
Large Packet of Ale Yeast (Can't remember the brand, by the one in the blue packets)
Hop Extract to taste (Careful !)
Boil the Halletau Hops hops for 20 minutes in a large pan.
Turn off heat and add the SAAZ and let steep for 20 minutes
Mix together with Malt in a suitable VAT. I add water to a mark I made by pooring in 3 and a bit 18 litre kegs. The bit allows for the dregs.
Add yeast and stir well as usual. I add the Hop Extract just before kegging, the amount required is usually somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 of the bottle, assuming you have one of those tiny bottles.
This beer is slightly sweet, is usually better brewed in Winter, it tastes like a Lager / Pilsner. I like it a little more bitter then most. It is a very refreshing beer on a hot day with a very crisp taste.
Just a little off topic:
I work for a label manufacturing company, I you could buy A4 printable labels, 6 to a page that had a removable adhesive, (that is they come easily of without tearing or leaving residue) Would you use them?
This is not something we currently make but I am curious as to whether there is a market worth pursuing?
Andrew
