Ive been doing AG brewing now for about 3 months, and Im really pleased with the results I get when I use other peoples recipies and fiddle with them in Beersmith, but Im less keen on the ones I design myself, or just grab randomly off the web.
I put this down to lack of understanding of how everything works together.
This, I susupect, will improve over time, and my fingers are crossed to get some brew books for christmas.
In the mean time, where is a good place to get recipies on the internet that are tried and true.
I found a site that has some of Jamil's and other award winning brews on it at:
http://beerdujour.com/JamilsBrewingNetworkRecipes.htm

Im particularly keen on Belgian stinky ales and English Ales.

I find that if you read the reviews on this site from the swap meets and then try a couple of them later on.
From the xmas in july thread there was a milk stout that got great reviews so before winter I plan to brew that.
Everybody posts there recipes for the swap meets so its a good place to look and should give you enough recipes to keep you busy.

When I first started brewing I used to rely on recipes I found in books and on the internet but the results weren't very good most of the time. Things changed when I bought Ray Daniels' Designing Great Beers. That book gave me the confidence to start formulating my own. It's a great book but the only drawback is that it doesn't cover Belgian styles at all.

The only beer I brewed in the last 8 or 9 years from a recipe I got off the internet was Ross' Schwarzbier (Craftbrewer). If any of his other recipes are as good as that one, they're all winners.
