I bottled mine and stored it for 12 months. Now real Burbon flavour but still a crazy brew.

I did a Bourbon Porter with about 500mls of Jim Beam Black Label, an espresso coffee shot, and 1 tsp vanilla essence into secondary..

Man that recipe sounds good :icon_drool2: . Have you still got the recipe somewhere reviled? Only if it's on hand mate or I will search for it. Actually both recipes sound awesome but I am still to cross the great devide into AG maybe I could convert it to an extract?

All good, just got SWMBO to read it out to me over the phone B) I dont think youll be able to do it as an extract cos its quite complex, maybe as a partial? My recipe is for 22 litres, the original recipe I got subbed the amber with brown malt and only 300mls of Bourbon in 24 litres, and there were a few other changes...

5.25kg Pale
1.2kg Munich
500g Chocolate
500g Amber
500g Caramalt
130g CaraMunich II
120g Medium Crystal
200g Carafa I
60 : 40g Nugget

secondary : 1tsp Vanilla essence, 1 espresso coffee shot, 400mls (not 500 sorry) of bourbon...

I had 300mls of Jimmers to start off with but when I bottled it decided I wanted MORE BOURBON, cos it was quite subtle.. But that was for my tastes so up to you how much you add, maybe start with a lesser amount and add more if you think it needs it cos alot of people found my version overpowering, not me tho, i love it B)

Got to go with some brown malt, it really adds something else to this one. Just go nuts as time will mellow anything too out there. Go way more of th crystal too. Dont use vanilla essence either, just scrape the guts of a couple of vanilla pods into the secondary.

Cheers Cuzzy Bro!

Seriously thanks.

Yeah I meant partial not extract. One day my typing will be quick enough to catch up to my brain?

I picked up a 70lt SS boiler a few of weekends ago $30 and have been partial and extract brewing like a demon. Single batches. But now I was looking for something new to try, outta the ordinary, this is the ticket. Let you know how it goes.

Thanks again rev!

Hey no worries bud, $30 for a 70litre boiler is a wicked deal!! I know you probably have, but have you read up on BIAB? You could be AG'ing with that big ass boiler ;)

Yeah! It was at the local flea markets, the dude didn't know or care what it was he just wanted the cash. I never get a bargain like that.

Actually the mother-in-law is making me a "swiss voila bag" as we speak. Started weld a SS false bottom al -lah cake rack style from scraps I had. Just need to sort out the ball valve and temp measure and I am there? I think?

To be honest I have been wadding thru all the info on here from Thirsty Boy and alike. Man I would love to give BIAB a go but I got to admit I am a little daunted and probably suffering from info overload.

Bro I know exactly how you feel aye, I felt the same when I was trying to get my head around everything, thats why im having a brew day at mine on sat so some k&k'ers can see with their eyes how easy it is... Trust me, once you just take the plunge, it all flows smoothly, the info thet thirsty and Pistol Patch have written up is really good, just print it out and have it on hand on the day, then afterwards youll be pissed you didnt do it early cos it was so simple ;) Well, not simple, but more simple than it probably seems in your head right now :D

Yeah I know... Actually gone so far as to fill in the excel planner (which is awesome stuff). Just wanted to have the gear there ready to go before I hit the forum with questions. Thanks for the encouragement thou!

Fair enough wanting all the gear, otherwise youll end up like me, 9-10 months into AG and I still dont have a bloody ball valve on my kettle <_< Now everytime I have the money I go and blow it on ingrediants
