But people,

the topic was about COOPERS !?!?

not german wheats or belgians

yeast in coopers only helps the bowels and new brewers use liquid cultures!!

True, but then the mass-debate moved to the never ending yeast or no yeast pour wars.

I'm drinking a Coopers Sparkling as I type this, and I like the yeast in the glass.

At least I'm getting some vitamin B. :)

Yeah the more Vit B you get - the less it hurts in the morning!

And that's exactly what it is a massdebate - total wankfest.

"I daren't believe one could pour thine own disgusting yeast into thy scrumptuous beer!!"

followed by

"why, I never!... My good man, I take it your uncultured tomfoolery is not plainly obvious to thineself, but allow me to enlighten you. to pour your beer of its delectable yeast is utterly preposterous!!!"

simple really if it gets shaken let it settle before you drink it if you dont want the yeast in the glass ,,,,

jeez - some oldies being dragged to the surface today.

correct me if im wrong, but isnt Coopers one of those special beer that is meant to be bottle fermented, hence the yeast in the bottle? This suggests a few things to me:

1. Coopers should be drank from the bottle not from the tap.
2. if it is meant to be bottle fermented then surely the yeast imparts some flavour on the beer, so it shoudnt make any differance whether you mix the yeast up or not.

personaly i prefer Coopers out of a bottle, not from the tap. I dont mind the slight taste coopers yeast gives (sparkling more so than pale ale). Do I mix the yeast up from my own HB - No way, but then again mine is mostly dried crap yeast. If it was good yeast that imparted flavour then I probably would, ala Tangent's post.

I agree with what you are saying there citymorgue2. Although I have found that on a few of my HBs mixing the yeast in can add a little to the result (texture or flavour.. not sure where it has the impact). Also - I have to say that I don't mind a nice cloudy beer at times. ;)

slightly off topic:
After drinking HB for a few months now, everytime i go out and hit the piss i pick up this taste from commercial tap beer, my senses have evolved like a pregnant woman! I worked in a pub for a few years, and its the beer chemical taste (line cleaner). I use to clean the lines weekly, and its that chemical. very similar to the 'brewers detergent' we use.
I want to drink nice beer when i go out, but being a student i have to settle for the $4 toohey spewy (new) pints. Its a dam shame!
