The winter blues are biting, and I had to get out of the office at lunch time (and for once it wasn't raining).
I ended up wandering down into The Rocks and to the Argyle Courtyard bar (opened in April).
Review of the joint here

So I'm sitting in the bar having a Frankiskaner Dunkelweizen and a bar lunch, thinking that it was a nice relaxing environment and I could probably get a **** load more work done in these surroundings with a couple of liquid refreshments.

When I was in the US the other week it was common to see people sitting at the bar having a bevy and working on their notebook.

I guess what I'm thinking of is a Qantas Club style bar, where you can be on a wireless hotspot with your notebook, working and having a few nice refreshments.

Does such a place (other than the Qantas Club) already exist ?

Lots and lots of bars down here in the cbd of Melb are offering "free" wireless for their customers.

Where i used to play @ Lounge, Swanston st, they were one of the first to do it. Lots of business suit people often sit in bars with all their stupid mac's drinking latte's and looking like they are working.

Doc, you still insist in living in the metropolis of Sydney. :p

Come to Adelaide where we have quite a few coffee shops with wireless access and also at least one bar I know of that has a wireless access point. I reckon there are a few other bars where you could get access (legally too!)

Cheers
Pedro

PS Sorry - they aren't serving Gulf Brewery beers there at the moment.

Why would you want to spoil an occassion such as drinking a beer by working?

Opening one in Kin Kin next week Doc

IIRC, the Point Hotel in Pyrmont has free wireless connectivity.

Cargo Bar has wireless connectivity, but you have to pay for it.
