Just wondering if anyone had an idea of what sort of wage an assistant brewer would get?

I gave my 7 year old an icy-pole after she helped me with my first bottling session. That was penalty rates though because it was a Saturday night.

Was it a red icy pole? might have sped the bottling up :)

My guess is somewhere around $40-50K.

Thinking of swaping careers and living the dream?

You'll need some qualifications before you even get a look in unless you get really, really lucky.
Food science, chemistry, something along those lines.
Good luck though.

Lord Nelson are looking for a home brewer to step into an assistant brewer/bar person role.
Was in a recent 'maybe latest' issue of one of the brew mags(web page, positions vacant), not sure which, was posted in a link I got in facebook.
Surprised me that the home brewer was about the only prerequisite for the job.
If I lived in Sydney......

Edit: clarifying info
