Good luck Lucas - hope I can smell the kettle from my place!

good looking recipe, i can almost taste it now :)

I'm sure it will be a nice beer but for an ESB I think it's overemphasising the late hopping.

I agree, to be a true ESB I think less late more early hop additions... but unless your planning on entering it in a comp it isn't important at all.

It looks like a nice beer, and that is all I care about

the large amount of late hops was partly to compensate for nochilling it. I figure that normally the last hops will get some time sitting in the beer as is it chilled, whereas with nochill as soon as the flame is turned out, the beer is going into it's cube.

anyhow, the beer is now in a cube. I ended up adding an extra 5 minutes to the first two hop additions. I couldnt read my gravity (too hot for hydrometer) until they were already in and I found that my efficiency was under estimated . I stuck it in beersmith and I think 5 minutes extra should result in the beer I was aiming for. I can now see the strong need for a refractometer :)

still, smoothest brewday yet. AG really isnt much more work, there's just a lot of standing about drinking beer, waiting for stuff to do it's thing.

Thats what I like to think of as a fringe benefit that makes AG more fun and therapeutic to boot!
That brew sounds like a fine Brit ale for slaking an autumn thirst.

What yeast will you pitch with?

I thought I had some windsor in the fridge but I just looked and it's not there. I have some nottingham that I could you, but I'm leaning towards buying some windsor from CB since It'll be here by tuesday and since I'm nochilling the wait until then shouldnt pose a problem
