Sorry to ask these questions, I'm sure the answers are on the forums somewhere, but I can't find any!

I'm about to get a filter, and am unsure about a few things.

Once fermentation has finished, should I chill the fermenter for a day to allow particles to drop, then filter directly from here to the keg? Or should I keg it, then filter keg to keg?

What about filtering carbonated beer? I have a few beers that are already kegged, and are a few weeks old. Is it ok to filter these?

yes chill and transfer directly from fermenter to keg a'la "pumpy method"

the filter will knock at least half of the carbonation out of the beer.

edit spelling error changed pimpy to pumpy.

so there is no problem filtering carbonated beer, it will just loose a bit of carb?

Right. Depending on the circumstances it will loose more than just a bit of carb. I just started filtering and use a "High Pressure System". That means that I have a closed filter circuit setup between two kegs AFTER the first fermenter. I transfer via electric pump from one keg through the filter to another keg. Those two kegs' gas valves are connected, so they are isobar. Works fine, especially @ 0-2C. The system pressure is ~1.5 bars, depending on the wanted saturation pressure.
