Hi guys,

I am after a 60 litre fermenter.
I know G&G sell them for $80.....

Does anyone know of a cheaper place in Melbourne to get them?

Mate G&g are great and obviously a site sponsor... BUT

For the rest of this month only Winequip in sydney Rd are clearing stuff out because they are moving.

I set up a sixty from them, Therm., Airlock, tap etc.. for $42 bux!!

Word.

Cocko!

If only you were in Sydney. You can get them (pickup) for $15.99 off ebay (none listed atm, but they come up every couple of weeks).

I see them come up all the time.
I suppose to miss out is the price I have to pay for living in the beat capital in Australia with the most consistent weather this time of year..
LOL

What goes around comes around... I see so many 40L urns go for cheap in Melbourne. I've been hunting one for months.

If only as many cafe's failed in Sydney :p

Pretty sure I got 3 of these of the same seller. Never ended up using them as a fermenter but they are doing a great jub storing my grain

Kabooby :)

Aussie Disposals have them listed as 'Canoe Drums' for $39.95. I've seen them cheaper there when they have sales too. You'll need to source your own airlock, grommet etc but they also sell taps for about $2 ...

That's about the cheapest way to get them up here in brissy too. I bought my first from my LHBS for like $80ish, and two days later was driving past australian camping quartermaster in enogerra and they had two identical fuckers sitting on the street for sale for $40 each :p Oh well, good thing the new chest freezer can fit three with room to spare :)

How do you move this sort of fermenter around? Im strugging as it with a normal 30 litre one.

Try BMW plastics
Cheers

Looks like BMW only sell by the pallet load. Were you able to get an individual 60lt drum or did you have to go a few?

Wouldn't mind a few of the bigger cubes they have on the site, but a pallet of them would be taking the hobby a bit far :)

Hopper.

I have 3 from that ebay seller in sydney, have used them numerous times for some bulk brewing and they are great. Only prob i have is no fridge to use them for brewing lagers.... :)

the best bit was looking back on what i achieved in a fortnight, a record 230 litres of beer! :-O i got lazy for months after that...

anyone have the dimensions for the eBay one? I have a fridge I'd like to use for fermenting, but not sure if it will fit..

Been wondering the same thing myself. I assume you put the fermenter where its going to sit during ferment when its empty and then fill it up. As long as its off the ground you can still rack it.

I ferment my beers in the old fridge....the thought of moving it in there gives me a back ache.

moving anything over 45L should be a two person job. i really struggle to lift 45L in a 60L fermenter, just get the wife or a mate on one side when i want to lift it.

I use a simple trolley made from a single 30cm x 40cm sheet of 12mm plyboard with 4 castor's fitted to the bottom, works great.

Might be time to jimmy up a trolley then!

I think its time i brew double batches, as it will only add an hour or so to my brew day.
