Hi,

I have a 4 ring burner and a converted 50lt keg as my kettle. Problem is the keg dosnt sit on the burner properly...It does sit on there but its dodgy, gets better when the kettles full as there is weight holding it on due to the wort, but i'd hate for it to fall off the burner mid boil..

Anyone got suggestions as to somthing i can put over the burner that holds the bottom of the keg flat? I use bricks to put the burner on to prop it off the wooden decking i use to brew on if that makes and difference.

Cheers.

when i got my 4 ring burner from G+G it came with a frame, if your burner is the same might be worth sending them an e-mail see if u can get the frame seperatly

Grain and grape couldnt seperate a stand for me from a burner..

Does the fact that the stand takes the kettle much further away from the flame make a difference..? i like my kettle to sit right on my 3 ring to keep that blue tip of the flame as close as possible.

Will have to try it out and see if it takes longer to boil kong. I'll have my burner proped up on bricks tho so its as close to the bottom as i can get it.

Fents if you're boiling outside (as many do) may not be a case of "how close" your burner is to the keg chime but more a case of how much wind/breeze is minimising it's effectiveness.

May pay to build yourself a shroud to put around the burner keg interface to keep the wind off the flame and you'll notice a vast improvement. :)

If you boil in your garage well disregard all that. B)

Fents,

Your right, Dave's a good bloke.

I got my 4 ring burner from him. It came with a stand that was similar to Darkfaerytale's and it works beautifully.

As Warren says some sort of wind break certainly helps if your brewing outside.
