So I've done quite a few starters now, think I've got that side sorted, but now I have, for the first time, 2nd gen yeast (harvested from an earlier starter a few weeks ago) ready to go into it's next starter to harvest off another 100B cells for the fridge and grow 240B for a beer this weekend.
My question refers to the darker line on top of the creamy yeast in the pic below. Do I scrape this darker product off assuming it's dead cells/trub and put the remainder into the starter, or can I just swirl that bad boy up and pitch direct to the starter?
