Just did my 2nd ag irish red ale via SJW, Ducati Boy.
All went well after recalibrating the dip stick from the first ag,
But Der I dont understand before boil in the kettle I took a og 1060, what way too high & thats after cooling to 23c.
Dont know there, will obviously check before pitching yeast.
Can any one point me in the right direction
Not that I am that stressed but just a stickler
Drank the whole way through it this time not like last time started at the boil so I was even keeled this time. Unfortunately didnt chill it its in a cube but hopeing for a nice xmas drop
Thanks for all advice

I had better add that it was a 25litre batch using 5kgs of grain. Took the reading from the kettle once it was full 100mm & waited for it to cool 23c.
Maybe I should have stired before getting a sample?
Would have thought that it would mix from going in from mash tun?
1060 ?
Anyway pitching tomorrow so hopefully I will get 1050 og there abouts

Most likely the problem. I always stir to be sure...it might mix OK in the kettle, but there'll be some of the first runnings blocking up the tap with higher density wort...that'll throw the reading off. in future, clear the tap, and stir before sampling.....just recheck grav when you pitch.

Just pitched & got 1046 cheers butters
