Washington man 2006 Beerdrinker of the Year

Feb 28, 2006 - Tom Schmidlin, 36 and a University of Washington graduate student, won the 2006 Beerdrinker of the Year title in the finals held at Denver's Wynkoop Brewing Co.

Among the best questions from the judges were:

"If you were going hunting with Dick Cheney, what beer would you bring?"

"If terrorists threatened to wipe out the world's hop crop, would you negotiate with them, and what one hop variety would you save?"

"How many dimples are in a bottlecap?"

When I was in the public service in a previous life I worked with two drinking specialists.
One weighed in at 25stone the other at 27 stone, two very big lads.
Every payday they would have the competition at a local pub in the city, the record was held by the larger of the two at 26 pots in the one hour break.
The 'slim' one told me one day he beat him by two pots on one occassion, but failed on the no chunder rule on the way back to the office.
The big one also used to ride a Honda step through, it was truly a hilarious sight, just looked like a skinny wheel protrusing from his backside when following him up the road.
