    Real Low Alcohol Beer

I think the idea in the OP is probably the easiest way to go. Using kits, increase the amount of water or only use part of a can to lower the OG or the fermentables in the beer. This will leave you with a waterery and rather flavourless beer. To offset this I would try steeping some specialty...

A Guide To All-grain Brewing In A Bag

Hi All I have been hampered as regards to my AHB access lately (about 12 months due to nagging - then pregnant wife - to having a 2 month old) so havent posted much. I have increased my avg efficiency from 70% to around 90% with BIAB. The first figure was taken over about 10 brews. The 2nd over...

    Electricians....question For You?

Hey Pok As several in the know have suggested, I would get a licensed sparky on the job if only to cover your arse. There are too many variables to look at and if you are not aware of them it can cause problems. eg The wires to the existing outlet for your fridge are only designed to handle a...

    Best Light Beers

Yeah I went through a summer of Haagen mids I think (Yellow label) thought it was OK for the price at the time. That was a few years ago now and havent drank any since I started brewing again. I now try and keep a steady flow of Doc's Yardglass session light (or variations of) on 1 of my taps...

    Have I Overcarbonated?

Ha ha, Just found the opposite problem, left a keg at 200kpa overnight. Got home from work and found I had failed to connect the gas line to the post. Good thing I'm not hanging on it, still have 2 other kegs pouring at the moment. Hopefully the keg will carbonate better with the gas connected...

I Sometimes Think Of Stopping Brewing !

Just come back from 6 months without brewing myself. Started a degree at the start of the year and while I was trying to slow up drinking beer to keep the brain active, managed to knock up the wife. Had things other than beer on the mind for a while and just cracked the first keg of a batch I...

A Guide To All-grain Brewing In A Bag

Thanks for info on that Bribie. I take it that if time, cost, effort etc are disregarded you would prefer to use the GB bag to brew? MY current bag still has a bit of life left in it yet but when the time comes to retire it would prefer just to have the best made bag for brewing. Cheers Dunno

Brew In A Bag Competition Successes

Well said TB, Thanks for the warning. I will remember not to enjoy or be happy with my BIAB beers until I have a 1st place at the nats. Maybe I should make my next brew a No frills lager can with a Kilo of CSR sugar to see if I can improve.. Well done to BribieG and Katzke & wife, keep brewing...

    What Yeast Is It?

I envy you southerners who can brew a lager with no temp control. I can still struggle to keep an ale at temp in the winter without temp control. I still don't see the purpose of deliberately decieving consumers on the can as to the the temps required? One would assume that Coopers are aware of...

    Kegerator Blowout

One of the inherent problems of trying to save a few dollars on evilbay as opposed to purchasing your investment from a reputable supplier. I had a small problem with the electronic temp control on a similar unit purchased from Craftbrewer. A quick call to craftbrewer and I had replacement parts...

    Question For All Grainers

Since going AG I haven't considered going back to partials. I enjoy the process of brewing and after bringing a beer through the whole process from start to finish, there is that much more satisfaction with the end result.

    How Many Taps

I started with a kegerator setup with a 3 tap font. After a year I am now planning a chest freezer with space for 8 kegs and a 6 tap flooded font. All for the variety, 3 just doesn't seem to cut it anymore. Where does it end?

Tell Us Your Best 2008 Brew

Would have to say the beer I am drinking now, my first AG Docs yard glass session light, has a depth of flavour I didnt expect from a lighter beer. Close second was a belgian ale K&K I done using liquid yeast for the first time. Dunno

    Dough In

Hey BribieG, I have only done 2 BIAB batches so far (both in the last 2 weeks, 3rd is planned for next week), but for what it's worth, I followed Pistol Patch's idea with the escalator mash. Chucked the grain in shortly after flame on and brought the mash up to temp with the grain in. It seemed...
