Gents, I went down to my local bottle shop last night (Yarraville Cellers) which fortunately specialise in micro brew beers! I found the Jamesons Raspberry ale and rushed home to throw it in the fridge for a little bit as i had been wanting to brew a raspberry ale myself. After an hour or so...

    Double Mix

Gents, Sorry for the amature question - i searched but couldn't find this question asked before. If i'm making 2 kits in one fermenter, does one use both sachets of yeast? does that also mean that i would be adding something like 2 kg of malt / dex??? if not more? Will this take longer to...

    The Supermarket Challenge

Morning, I picked up 2 of the Cascade kits for $4ea on clearance at my local safeway in Newmarket. I also picked up 2 of their home brand ones for shits and giggles for $2ea. I figure the home brand one will end up costing under the $10 mark all up. None of them were even close to their use...

Have I Just Ruined My Beer?

Gents, I was in my local HBS on saturday to buy some pipe to transfer my beer from primary to secondary fermenters. They recommended i buy a syphon and do it that way. So i syphoned from first to second and had to run the beer down the wall of the fermenter as the hose was too short. I tried...

    Some Guidance Needed

Morning, thanks for the advice - a few questions "Boil all the extract with the hops." - do i throw this in at the start with the 200g malt? for the full 40mins? I don't really have temp control for the fermenters - I have a heating pad but thats about it. I'm away for a month in total...

    Bottle Dialemma

Thanks for the replies guys, if you're using normal bottles what is the best way to get the labels off? i have a few but it takes ages to get them off and even when you soak them in water they still don't peel off. It takes forever. I'm relatively new to home brewing in case anybody guessed...

Do they enable you to get the same seal as regular "flip top" bottles? Your thoughts are much appreciated, Pete
