    Handle stuck to Malt Muncher

Yahoy hoy, I bought a malt muncher a few months back. Put the handle on, did a sack of grain by hand, then put it away and promptly bought a drill. Today I went to remove the handle in order to attach the drill, and it was stuck fast. I've removed the little screw holding it in place, and...

Pot only gets up to 95C with the lid off

Okay, it's now the morning after, and I have problems number 2 and 3. I was hoping to leave my pot after the boil to just sit and cool overnight (with the lid on), and then in the morning I could pour my wort into the fermenter and start brewing. Problem 2: The wort is still around 50 degrees...

Pot only gets up to 95C with the lid off

Looks like it works for me as well. It isn't a rolling boil, but it's a gentle one. Thermometer reads 99c, and enough steam is coming off it that I'm going to call it a boil I guess I'll know if I taste corn as to success or failure

Hahah is life ever so simple? I'm going to go and test this now

Pot only gets up to 95C with the lid off

Howdy drunks, I'm doing my first BIAB, and I just did a test run on the stovetop without any grain. With the lid off, it's only bringing the 25L of water to 95C before it won't get any hotter. I see my options as: 1. Put the lid on during the boil, hope and pray (but what about the boilover?)...

Im bad at this and I need help

Just the hydrometer that came with the kit. The temperature is sitting at about 24 when I draw it from the fermenter. I came home to it sitting at 24.5 this arvo. So, following grott's advice, I've turned off the heat pad and given him a designer jumper. There's been condensation on the inner...

Im bad at this and I need help

Sitting on the heat pad is keeping it between 22-24. So I'm probably thrashing it. No acetone smell though - would it cause any other problems? RE Underpitching the yeast - I threw the yeast in when the brew was sitting at 29, so maybe that killed some of them. I did pour in the liquids as...

Im bad at this and I need help

Just like me, if this becomes my fourth failure Actually, it isn't too bad to taste. Had a sip today. Maybe because some of the sugar from the can has stuck around?

Brewing ale in Sydney's climate without power

Hi guys, I'm uhmm-ing and aah-ing about the right time of year to start brewing. I've moved up from Melbourne (where I could just use a heating pad in my cold basement) to Sydney. I'd like to brew soon, because I'm thirsty, but it's still pretty warm. When can I start and not ruin it...
