You've tried it in your beer SJW? I guess I could use this batch as an experiment now instead of dumping it (was going to tip it tonight), and just put some antibiotics in there, let it clear bright and force carb it (to keg for myself). Might give it a go....

I don't think it's been sitting long enough to develop mold, I'm fairly sure it's bacteria. I could do that Manticle, and it was going to be my last resort, though given it's already taken a slightly tart finish, I think I'll just re-brew this weekend, after all it's meant to be a gift :P

I'm fairly sure it was the hop sock I used that caused the infection. Despite boiling it in water for 15 minutes prior. The reason I used said hopsosck was because I used peletised hops and didn't want excess plant material in the beer. From now on the sock is out.

Yep, its about that height give or take an inch. So if I cut it there it won't grow a new tip and keep growing, only grow laterals?

It's already about 9 feet tall give or take, I'm worried the snap is in the worst possible spot, about half way of what the final length should be.

Quick question guys. One of my hop bines has "snapped" about 6 inches short of the tip. It's still partially connected, and seems to still be providing nutrients to the tip, though it has slowed growth enormously to only 5mm or so a day, where it was at 6cm or more previously. My question is...

I've got the same "burning" look around the tips of my lower leaves, some are much worse than others. None of the higher leaves have and sign of it yet, I wonder if the plant has just come good since growing taller...

You sure it's got 4 different hops in it? Perhaps I had a stale one, but it was pretty bland from memory (I've only tried it once and it was ~3 months ago now). As Black_labb says, ditch the Dextrose, I only ever use it on beers above 8% and even then I use it sparingly.

Part of the reason you're disappointed is because the beer is "expired" now. If it's been sitting on a dusty store shelf it's little surprise it's lost a lot of it's fresh ginger and biscuit flavours. Personally I thought it was the best Christmas beer of last year, and I tried around 8 or 9...
