    BILSONS Portello cordial

Good call, I think I've been buying sugar free cordial for so long I forgot the regular type is fermentable!

    BILSONS Portello cordial

You'd need to add yeast as well, that's what turns the carbonation drops into carbonation. If your really keen you can invest in a kegerator and use CO2 gas to carbonate your drink and also dispense it via taps :)

I'm back (back in the New York groove)

Ok so I'm not anywhere near the big apple (apologies to Ace Frehley), but I'm am brewing again for the first time in a bit over 5 years! I pulled out the old system and have it a good scrub last weekend, then did a simple pale ale, more to test the seals etc than anything else (basically...

    Nutribullet?

Always reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons where Troy McClure was selling juicers, pushing an orange into his eye and saying "Until now this was the only way to get juice out of an orange"...

Keg King New Corny Kegs: Metallic Taste

I picked up a couple of the 9L ones in the bulk buy a couple of months back, no issues that I have picked up on

Terror suspect shot dead in Melbourne suburb.

Don't forget this "terrorist" was only 18, and while 18 may be legally adult I remember when I was 18 I thought I knew everything and could rule the world, turns out I was a ******* idiot with a lot of growing up to do. I'm not defending him, and I'm sure not saying the cops were wrong to...

    Reasons for low carbonation

Had the same problem over the last few weeks and was beginning to worry, funny how even though I've been brewing for 7+ years, every now and then I still need to read a post like this to remind me of the basics and reassure myself I don't need to panic :P

Do you talk to your yeast?

I generally pitch 2 whole cartons of VB straight into my fermenter (tip for n00bs, if you buy longnecks you don't have to open as many bottles - lifehack!!), leave it for a week and then bottle, my mates reckon it's just as good as the the real thing! Whats a yeast?

Xmas In July Tasting - VIC

I shared a bottle of Black n Tan's "The Witches Cauldron" American Imperial Red Ale with my father in law last night, I wish I hadn't shared it now :) It had the same sort of flavour as the bridge rd red ale but so much bigger in the mouth, really smooth and almost velvety, it took me a good 30...

Xmas In July Tasting - VIC

Friday Froffy time, just cracked open Damn's English IPA. Smooth is the word here, not overly hoppy or bitter, plenty of sweet caramel, a good thick off white head and pretty clear. A really enjoyable beer, I'd be happy to drink this all afternoon :)

Xmas In July Tasting - VIC

Finally got off my arse and picked up my beers from Yob's house last night (apologies again for leaving my stuff lying around for so long), all day at work today I was drooling at the thought of getting stuck in and I'd knocked the top off one before my car keys had hit the kitchen bench when I...

Wine kits - worth a go?

The missus is a fan of Shiraz & Cab Sav so those are what I'm aiming for. I'm definetly keen to avoid the nasty cheap ones and have no issue spending the cash to get a good one, is there one in particular you'd reccomend?

Xmas In July Tasting - VIC

It's possible, I'm pretty thorough with my cleaning and as I said I haven't had any issues with other brews recently, and they all go through the same system. I'll replace some taps and seals and see if that helps

Xmas In July Tasting - VIC

Thanks all for the kind words re my Rye IPA, I've brewed this again recently and on checking a couple of bottles I've found these are also overcarbonated. It's a real head scratcher as again I was sure of my FG, and I've not had this issue with any of my other brews. I'm going to try it again...
