The polystyrene was cut to shape to fit around the vessels. I recall that the place was in Acacia Ridge or thereabouts but can't recall the name of the company.

I am not sure how thermal mass of tun comes into the calculations, however I would have thought that to have a mash tun thermal mass of 0, you would have to have the temperature of the mash tun at your the temp of your first rest. If it was at strike water temp it would add some energy...

I would put it in the ground. The growth over the first couple of years is mainly in the root - preparing you for a monster crop a few years down the track. If you have a permanent location for it planned - put it in the ground before it gets too much bigger. dreamboat
