Moving To The Uk Sale - Perth

I'm off to the UK at the end of the year for a while so I'm offloading my grain (and other gear to follow) Pickup (only) is Sunday morning 16-Oct in Ferndale - this is the only day I'll be in Perth from now until November Grain comes in rectangular plastic tubs, the $8 green shed clear plastic...

    Bullshead Kolsh Bastardisation

It will be a nice brew but not a Kolsch. It's more of an APA than anything Kolsch = no late hops + kolsch yeast There is almost no room to move in this style

    Semi-automated Electric Biab

I headed down this path before going 3V One element controlled by the PID for mash control The other simply plug into another circuit of your house via an extension chord for the boil The temp probe could go in the recirculation line

Ghetto Braumeister - Biab W/ Controller

I started building a 70L ghetto Braumeister but changed my tact as I wanted to be able to brew double batches of high gravity beer so I opted for a 3V setup (nearing completion) I think you could get around the efficiency issues with high gravity brewing by adding a second vessel for a sparging...

Style Of The Week 3/1/07 - Kolsch

:excl: Thread ressurection for ranting purposes So many homebrewers post recipes of their "Kolsch" brews that are so far from style it makes me sick! I'm sure using late hops, crystal and US05 will make a tasty beer but IT WILL NOT BE A KOLSCH *end rant*

    Electric Kettle

I did some quick calcs for element sizing based of the latent heat of vaporisation for water and for 10% evaporation rate I got 63 Watts / Litre of wort This is over simplified as it ignores the sugar effects on boiling but it should be ball park for minimum power requirements. For example...

    The Ultimate Brewing Rig

I plan to run something similar, using two 10A circuits from different rooms of the house Two DPDT switches will let me select between the 4 heating elements (2 in kettle) so I never take more than 10A per circuit

    Made From Beer

I would disagree here. I doubt many people would be able to pick the beer they have sworn allegiance to in a blind tasting (talking megaswill lagers here, with the exception of TEDs as they have a disticnt rankness no other beer has on the planet) People enjoy familiarity. They want to know...

Sneaky Way To Fill Bottles Quicker?

For my next batch I'm tempted to use a syringe to dose each bottle with sugar solution and fill straight from the fermenter. Racking is such a PITA, adding heaps of time to bottling day
