I personally wouldn't be using German hops. I would be more inclined to use Goldings or Fuggle if you can.

I think you will find they can really put what ever they want for postage and "handling" and just say its the handling bit that cost that extra moolah.

My mild is boiling away at the moment. First time brewing a mild and first time using my pump... Maybe a recipe for disaster but we will wait and see. I'll take the PoMO approach and hope for a good result!

Yeah ebay is the go. I got mine for around $25 delivered and they are great, 0.01gm accuracy.

For an IPA? Do you use a program like beersmith/promash? Put those amounts in and see what you get. For an IPA you would be looking at a minimum 40 IBU's so they would need to be uped a bit. If you wanted an APA i would stick with the amounts you have already but change the hops to suit the...

All I would be doing is uping the pale malt to about 4kg's.

I used it for the first time in a Kolsch a few weeks back. I brewed it at around 14 aswell but it seemed fine to me. I usually use the German ale but i must say i prefer the Kolsch yeast.
