    Diluting & Calculating Ibu's

Hi Paul, its quite easy to calculate: 1 IBU = 1mg of isomerized alpha acid in 1 Liter of wort. For example: your batch size is 25l and youd wish to have 25IBU in it. 25mg isomerized AA * 25 Liter = 625mg isomerized AA. If youd like to dilute the wort, just use the rule of three. Cheers...

    Yeast Culture

yeah mate, thats right. That way Im using the yeast cake up to 6 times, sometimes 8 times in a row. You dont need to warm it up for pitching, just pitch cold. Yeast basically gets shocked when youre going to pitch warm yeast into cold wort, not the other way round. Cheers mate :icon_cheers:

    Pilsener Advice

if youre going to pitch the yeast warm, you should do a Diacetyl rest at the end of fermentation. The classical way to brew a Pilsener is to keep the yeast cold at all stages of brewing, hence youd need a huge amount of yeast. In case the amount of yeast is not sufficient, one could pitch at...

    Water Flow Meter

no, it isnt complicated, not at all. Do you know anyone with electronics skills? some handicraft enthusiast can do that for less than 10 A$ yeah, thats the water solenoid valve: the black hose delivers water directly from tab: the level sensor sits top of the lid: view under the lid...

    Water Flow Meter

What about using a level sensor in the mash tun? set the level sensor to the desired volume and turn on the water, switched over a solenoid valve from a washing machine. Thats what Im doing. As soon as the water reaches the sensor, the solenoid valve switches off the water. Its quite easy...

    Filtering Beer Keg To Keg

Everything depends very much on the pore size of the filter. Im using a 0.2 micron Pall filter, wont work by gravity only, I have to use a pump. Benefit: crystal clear beer, as from a commercial brewery. Cheers :icon_cheers:
