    Three Times Lucky..

Yeah, be warned ... it is very manky.. but it worked. I cleaned and formed (well wrapped into some sort of shape) a length of copper, drilled some holes in it and used the bench vice to crimp the end. It sat on top of the grain bed and gently spewed out hot liquor... The elements were great ...

    Three Times Lucky..

What a day.... First time using two 2400 W immersion heaters in the kettle - worked an absolute treat - wort got to a great rolling boil in no time at all - great hot break - crystal clear beer into the fermenter. First time using my dodgy, homemade copper sparge arm - sparged over 40 mins or...

Which Direction To Take For Kegging?

Absolutely. This is what I have been doing for several months and is great. Allowed me to learn how to carbonate kegs, care for the beer and kegs and has been working well. Just beginning to upgrade to a couple of taps through the fridge door but having some issues getting the system balanced...

    Electic Hws As A Hlt?

Thanks Tony. It is a glass lined HWS so not sure if it would be easy to take the top off it.. pencil pusher here with limited tech skills so will need to look into it further. Good point re: thermostat. Just had a look at the unit and it has overheat protection on it.

    Electic Hws As A Hlt?

Morning All, Received a Vulcan 40 lt electric hot water service yesterday from a friend and was just wondering whether I should use it as a HLT? Anyone see any issues with doing this? If anyone is currently doing this, any tips? 240 V, max thermostat temp is about 70oC, mains pressure I...

    Fat Yak - Ag Clone

I think I need more for my palate but maybe also a more for the Yak. I think the malt is too flavoursome but hey, I love malty beers. Get into it and let us know what you think of your own recipe....

    Fat Yak - Ag Clone

Hey Fourstar, Thanks for your theoretical recipe. I gave it a go for my last brew and drinking the last of it now. It turned out to be flavoursome beer. Even, no especially, the megaswill drinkers enjoyed. Good malt but more bitterness needed I think. Not too similar to Fat Yak - but a great...

RecipeDB - Little Creatures Bright Ale Clone

Mmmnnn, very tasty and moorish.... Delicious.... I could drink this all day.... (and they bloody well did too!) These are some of the comments made by my mates who managed to empty my first keg of this great beer yesterday. They couldn't believe how ordinary and bland tasting the typical CUB...

    Its A Boy

Congrats! Just finished my first AG on the weekend. English ale fermenting nicely now. Felt good putting one under my belt and also came close to hitting all the right numbers. A few mishaps along the way which will be corrected next brew in a week. Cheers

    Apa Recipe Critique

Thanks for the great comments. As a beginning all grain brewer, I have really enjoyed learning about the effects of different types of malt on beer. Cheers,
