Ghetto Rims: Keggle + Urn Element?

Hi Jon, I've recently made a herms out of a found asahi keg. mounted uxcell elements in the bottom after grinding the top out. I already had a coil so it was only a days work - if that. Castle Hill Show Competition 2012

Hi Mark, minor correction: the Show is actually held in March, however the beer comp portion is run in september to keep out of the way of the judging of other sections as well as fall into the brew comp season. I know Stu offered to host the states in conjunction with the Castlehill comp this...

    No Chill Cube Oaking

interesting experiment tony. I can't offer any advice, but can say Stu & I made a ripper stout a few years back, half of it we fortified with some vodka that i'd soaked in JD barrel chips for a month. Turned out great - had a bit of kick as well as the oak;-)

Nsw Mid North Coast Recommendations - To Live

sorry bribe - only just saw the thread. As barls said, I too grew up in Taree. Whilst it was a great place to grow up in 25+ years ago, it has changed a lot since. It is now a low socio-economic demographic - a real poverty town IMHO. I say that as there are no major industries (fishing, timber...

What Do You Do With Larger Batches?

I do exactly that. means you can try different brew/yeast combinations by pitching onto the years cake when primary is done - or use a smaller beer to grow yeast numbers for a big beer. enjoy your new kettle.

    5l Mini Kegs

guess it depends on where you are at, what you want to achieve & importantly what you can afford.... I have a keg fridge etc & love it but am currently working away from home.. can't bring my brewery & cornies won't fit in the fridge where i'm staying (don't even mention drilling holes for a tap...
