    Slug Slime Anyone?

We have this problem with slugs in our house. Don't ask me how we come to have slugs in the house because I don't know where they hide at night. Perhaps I should go spot lighting one night. Anyway ... pulled the fermenter out of the box where the beer had been fermenting for the last fortnight...

    It Arrived

YOu know .. I don't want to put a dampner on sav's celebrations but .. my philosophy in my tiny beer making career has been to seek feedback and adjust .. and no one has ever complained my beer is too cloudy .. touch wood. Maybe its a south australian thing :) But then again .. if I brewed for...

Ross's Summer Ale .. Very Cloudy Wort

well a little, you know. One has to be on tenterhooks 'til bottling day when you get that taste from the hydrometer. And there's another two weeks while it carbonates. BTW Matti - I used whirlfloc in the kettle. You're right. It will be fine. already the beer is clearing. :)

    Champagne Bottles - Brisbane

Go dumpster driving! Its sooo worthwhile. I used to scrounge through the rubbish bins out the back of the pub until crown lager stopped being crown sealed. On any Sunday morning you'll get your 30 bottles easily .. well maybe 2 Sunday mornings. And its kind of like shop lifting .. except not...

Ross's Summer Ale .. Very Cloudy Wort

A becks or a bex?? No I'm not stringing you along .. I've just fallen out of my tree temporarily. I obviously don't brew often enough. Anyway, its bubbling now .. must have heard me typing! I'll relax and have a sparkling shiraz and a good lie down!

Ross's Summer Ale .. Very Cloudy Wort

Now I'm hovering around the airlock like a total newbie! There's no krausen, just bubbles. 24hours! WTH?? I used 1/4 cup of slurry from the previous batch I was bottling yesterday, so fresh out of the fermenter. That should be OK shouldn't it? Its at 19C. Oh wait ... I should have pitched 1/2...

    2008 Sa Xmas Case Swap

I'm not coming now ... I'm too ashamed of my latest effort at AG .. no not really .. well yes that's true ... but I'm not coming because I have this "Ride Like Crazy" thing to train for and so I have to put in the kms that day. Does that sound pathetic? Yeah it does to me too.

Ross's Summer Ale .. Very Cloudy Wort

OK. I think it must be a Marris Otter thing ... I'll try the gelatine, but I can't refrigerate it .. no fridge.

Ross's Summer Ale .. Very Cloudy Wort

Thanks .. feeling calmer now. Brewing is so stressful! Ummm .. I would have thought the false bottom acted as a barrier between the grain and the tap. That was certainly the case with my dear old bucket in bucket. Maybe I was too hasty chucking the inside bucket in the bin! Yes I'm a skimmer...

Ross's Summer Ale .. Very Cloudy Wort

Actually .. I think it may be cold break. It was cloudier coming out of the kettle than going in. Is that a Marris Otter thing perhaps?

Ross's Summer Ale .. Very Cloudy Wort

I've just put my first Ross's Summer Ale into the fermenter and while i was transferring the wort I realised it was really cloudy. Is that because of the torrefied wheat? Is it going to be a problem? Will all that stuff sink to the bottom of the fermenter after 2 weeks? I was using my new mash...

    Mixing Extracts?

do you mean mixing different types of extract to get a different taste? That's not a problem at all. In american extract recipes like in Clone brews, the often mix different types of extracts to try and approximate the all grain version.

    Beersmith Probs

You need something to unzip files. Windows has its own unzipper. When you downloaded the file does the icon look like folder with a zip on it? Right click that and choose extract all and a wizard will start up and lead you through the steps. Now where this directory is, depends on where you...
