The best value fresh wort kits?

Just go all/partial grain and save your money. You can do BIAB without a large outlay it just takes research and time.

Boags Premium Lager AG clone for SWMBO

I don't know what strain of ale yeast, but they primary ferment for up to 5 days at around 22 deg C . Cold crash , then cold storage (lagering) for 3 weeks . They use kettle adjuncts to get the EtOH up to 5 %, as from grains it would only be a midstrength. The big boys cut corners to save money.

Conical Fermenter - Anyone use one?

I haven't used one , but I think the price is the problem. People look at the price for a plastic fermenter. If it came down, they would sell more. A smaller margin but larger sales volume should be their approach.

Gerry hates Amazon, so how will it change Home Brew ?

Just for the record I'm no fan of Gerry Harvey. From my understanding it will be a massive online shop with it's products , sourced from around the world( some local , but it's own brands including lots of US brands). But the products will already be here in Oz , in some warehouse. So not the...

Gerry hates Amazon, so how will it change Home Brew ?

Gerry Harvey has recently been warning against Amazon. How it operates on such small margins but in doing so , removes the competition. Amazon sells lots of Home Brew equipment. I think the wholesalers and retailers who have bulk quantities of equipment are going to find life a lot harder when...

    Gday from Newy

My 2c worth of advice is : - use no rinse sanitiser - get quality kegs , not second hand ones - temperature control importance - if you want to go all grain , research...

What about this- an AHB freight thread ?

That would be great for say small breweries to distribute their products around the place and your only the courier so no liquor license required if you were dropping off to a bottle shop or brewpub. They would probably give you a six pack for your troubles also.

Quick survey; what's you favourite kit ?

I haven't used a `kit for several years now but when I started I used Coopers , then I moved onto Morgans. If I were asked what's the best kit to buy for the quality of beer it makes at the lowest price ( taking everything else out of the equation ie temperature control, hops, yeast...

    Hello + Grainfather or Braumeister?

You can program the BM , it's quality but you have to answer is it worth it for the money. I think the Great Wall is a bit harsh although the country of origin is correct.

    Cheers From France

Welcome Illunada, You have to tell us about the home brew community there. How fast is it growing and is it mainly kits or has all-grain taken off ? Great to hear from you.

    Very new to brewing

Think about if your going to use the caps / capper . Probably better to go PET bottles or better the swing top bottles. Also spend $10 and get an acid sanitiser, it is the simplest and cheapest way to save time when your starting out.

Share holder in Hopsters Co-op Brewery Sydney for $250.

Well , I spent $250 and now I'm a share holder in Australia's first co-op Brewery. As for there are more useful things to do with $ 250 as wide eyed .. said , yes there are . But as someone who works in a Hospital and battles everyday within a deliberately broken system and saving lives has more...
