    First Lager

Has it only been fermenting for seven days? And did you aerate the wort? 10 deg should be fine.. I would just wait.. Unless the smack pack was out of date in which case you probably should have either done a starter or smacked the pack and let it swell.

    Coopers bottles pressure rating?

Thanks warra48 I will shoot them an email, and report back. Most bottle are safe up to 3 vol I would assume the coopers could take more as they are designed for bottle conditioning and HB as you mentioned.

How would a filtered beer lose clarity?

I just filtered another beer, and two days later it goes cloudy again frig me!! I might just give up this filtering stuff, but I am persistent and might push on another time or two? Anyways I filtered the beer after it was chilled for a few days as I have heard that's the way to filter out chill...

How would a filtered beer lose clarity?

I am starting to lean towards protein at least for my beer, as I BIAB and I am wondering if squeezing the bag at the end is the cause? Being it presses out more proteins and dextrins into the wort? Strange that it only occurs a few days after filtering tho, so your reasoning maybe more accurate...

How would a filtered beer lose clarity?

Wow, this comment had me confused for well over an hour lol I thought it was some kind of code until I re read the past posts! Crack up.

How would a filtered beer lose clarity?

I hadn't really thought about the yeast still being active, interesting I guess that would make sense. On second thoughts one of the beers I filtered was for the wife so the keg lasted longer than usual and it started to clear back up again...

How would a filtered beer lose clarity?

Has this issue been resolved? I was going to start a similar thread but this is exactly the same for me. I have changed my process a bit and removed the starsan yet I still get the cloudiness appear after 2-3 days, I flushed the filter with half a keg of cooled boiled water this past beer and...

Foam on top of wort without adding yeast

At least you know your brewing process is relatively clean, five days and 1 point isn't to bad, large scale stability test lol The krausen looks pretty clean doubt its bacteria I would crash chill at expected FG that might help stop it dropping further than you want depending on what actually...

    Dry Enzyme-What type is it?

Ok cool thanks for that, had heard of it but only just did some reading then after your comment. Sounds like an interesting malt, gonna have to try and get some, most reports are good on this forum..

    Dry Enzyme-What type is it?

Just an experiment really. Trying to make a really dry finished beer using rice and pilsner malt, while still having some malt flavour and head retention, which sounds like an oxymoron. The goal was to use the enzyme during the mash with the base malt and rice to make an extremely ferment able...

Empty barrels what to make of them?

Yeah the serving time was one thing I was concerned about. The cube idea or fermenter sounds like a better idea cheers...

    Diactyl Rest

Just used Coopers carbonation drops, they seem to work ok, but if you are bulk priming dextrose is my fav.

Empty barrels what to make of them?

That's sweet!! Did you weld the ball locks onto it? And the centre piece how did you do that? Could be a handy option? All-ready have 50lt that I rarely use except for camping or parties, but if I need to store large amounts of cider might be helpful?

    Diactyl Rest

Whoops sorry totally missed it!! At least we all agree lol It wouldn't hurt, I have just bottled and they have carbonated in the past, but I only lagered for 4 weeks, if its for longer I would def use more yeast just to be cautious...

Empty barrels what to make of them?

Thanks for that I seriously had no idea how they where used, honestly only ever saw the 50lt kegs in my pub travels!! Great thanks good to know the size, and I agree with the precious part, they will come handy for the cider as mentioned, and wine if I get some vines in one day. :super...

    Diactyl Rest

There are a bunch of methods this is a great read: http://braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fermenting_Lagers Noonan seems to be more technical in lagering than Palmer and Palmer recommends reading Noonans book on lagering which is an awesome in-depth read.
